Balmain x H&M: Awesome clothes, Bad campaign

So the first look at the Balmain x H&M line is out.  I’m curious as to what you think. The collection looks really nice, but the campaign??  No.

Again, it looks like an authentic Balmain line, not a knocked down version for fast fashion retail. I love it when designers try to offer something AUTHENTIC to the public at a reasonable cost.

The best collaboration lines with H&M have been Lanvin and Versace.  They each created amazing lines and the details were so great.  I still have my two Versace dresses and they remain in excellent condition.

The campaign for Balmain x H&M, hmmm…, I was a bit disappointed.  Balmain is a luxury line and placing the add on the subway felt a bit dismissive to me.  Yes, we ride the subway and we would still need to ride the subway if we purchased the line but I wish he’d kept the fantasy going.  Remember the images Marni created with Sophia Coppola and the awesome video she directed!  It was so dreamy!

Of course none of this will deter me from standing in line.  The clothes look amazing.  I really want the jacket Ms Jenner wore to the MTV awards. (pictured below)

As I’m sure you’ve heard the collection will be out November 5th available online and in stores. What do you think?  Are you planning to buy?

  1. I’m inspired enough to start seeking out H&M finds online! (Sadly no H&M where I live *tear*) I went to one once in Maine and was surprised by their low price tags, yet massive and on-trend collection. Now that I know they collaborate with big-shot designers I’m even more intrigued! Thanks for the article!
