Award winning London based architect Julian Hakes first released early images of the design for a new ladies fashion shoe on the 23rd September 2009. Called Mojito, the design consists of a single piece that wraps around the wearer’s foot, forming support for the heel and ball meaning this unique design was formulated around the shape of the foot, not the shape of the shoe.
Even more miraculous, the shoe was conceived organically meaning he did not start with a traditional foot plate. The process of designing the shoe included digital printing, 3-D printing, hand modeling, sanding, sculpting and on and on – over 30 prototypes to reach the now famed “mojito” shoe that has been worn by celebs like Gwenyth Paltrow and Lady Gaga and a slew of London fashionistas.
